I read a cool essay by a writer w/ a book coming out, next year. Maybe he’d want to come on my pod to promote the book? But I go to his website, & read: “My current commitments prevent me from taking on book endorsements, conference messages, interviews, and lectures.” (Ok, then)

Trust me, I know how hard it is to guard your writing time & family time. And I know you can’t say “yes” to every coffee meeting/podcast interview, etc—& frankly, some authors are so popular they don’t NEED to. But that’s not the case with the guy I’m talking about...

I just feel like if you’re going to take the time to write stuff you really care about, you owe it to the work to also build relationships that might help readers discover it. I’m amazed by the authors who write good stuff but won’t lower themselves to promote it.

There's a lot of writers I've been turned off from because of their attitude about readers, especially on twitter. I get it, there's a ton of trash on here. But it doesn't hurt to take a second and thank someone when they tweet you nice things about your work.
