    1. I could argue that Dems started this with (a) Bork, and (b) Harry Reid’s nuclear option. But 2. let’s assume your narrative. Should Dems attempt to replicate the worst aspects of the GOP’s current trajectory?https://twitter.com/certainlyblue/status/1038401843272003585 …

Yeah, awful that liberals are thrilled with the Ds fighting for keeps...like the Rs do all the damn time. Y’all are just pissed because we’re finally fighting back. Get used to it. https://twitter.com/mattklewis/status/1038035841841594368 …

Finger pointing is stupid. The nuclear option was exercised because Rs were in lockstep to block everything. That was enabled by something else. They all need to stop focusing on winning and start focusing on us. And we need to hold them accountable. Everyone is responsible.

I agree 100% on Bork but not Harry Reid. McConnell wouldn’t let anyone through. Elections have consequences and one is appointing judges. Prior to him, generally if the person was qualified he got through. Then Merrick Garland which was simply undemocratic

So, it's fair play b/c the Dems started it work Bork, but even if it's not, Dems shouldn't fight back b/c it will destroy them?

The problem is that the back and fourth never ends, you can play it all the way back the the beginning of America and never get anywhere. I don’t know the answer to this but it doesn’t help either side. Personally I feel the problem is that we have sides to begin with.

It’s amazing how my side never fights and when they do it’s justified and when the other side does it, it isn’t. Justification works for any political party.

I don't get why Bork is the the hill you guys die on. He was manifestly unfit to be on the Court for his role (and lack of judgment) in the Saturday Night Massacre alone, notwithstanding his extreme views. That fight wouldn't have occurred with another nominee.

Dude. I respect your take Matt. But these assholes don’t do things in a civil way. It just doesn’t work to play it with decency. 42,000 documents come out the night before the final hearing? That’s bullshit.

Yes. You know why? Because The High Road loses elections and Judgeships in today’s society. You Conservatives brought this on yourselves by an absolute refusal to work with Obama on a single thing he proposed.

Oh please. Bork was different animal altogether & for different reasons. Rs have been shoveling this crap since Clinton and Gingrich and so obsessed with Roe - can’t see straight. Despite fact majority of Americans believe in right to choose. No better than Sharia law.

McConnell used the nuclear option for SCOTUS, and there is no slippery slope that justifies his treatment of Merrick Garland. That was outright theft. But now that he’s done it, you’re damn right the Dems should do the same if given the chance.
