If there weren’t 16 years of 2 different presidents in between that were “normal” I’d give this more weight

Matt this is a desperate take- the GOP will reap the consequences of the Trump President they created for years to come. Hopefully years in the wilderness. Starting with the incompetence of George W Bush and now Trump - the GOP is not a party that can be trusted to rule.

GOP will blame the Clintons for anything and everything possible for the next 100 years. God help us for what Trump is paving the for. Right now the GOP is 100% to blame for doing nothing but worry about their poll numbers.

Come on, Matt. These moral equivalencies are dangerous in that they normalize - and I hate that word but, really, it normalizes Trump who is, as you know, just beyond the pale.

No matter how much you try to brush off the blame, Democrats didn’t vote for Donald Trump. Republicans were given 17 candidates to choose from, and this is the one they picked to represent them. You own that, not Bill Clinton.

No, it's Reagan who paved the way--his so-called compassionate conservatism put us on path we're on today. By convincing the GOP that government was the problem & unbridled greed & trickle-down was the solution, Reagan put in motion a political philosophy which resulted in Trump.

Reagan gave his brand of conservatism an affable face, but there were some of the same elements: racism, & a lack of empathy for anyone in a world beyond his own. His tax cuts benefited the wealthy and started a decimation of the middle class that has continued for 40 years.pic.twitter.com/g0bLeMuUQ2

That chart is legacy of trickle-down economics & greed. And more tax cuts, deregulation, and bailouts. Eventually, the GOP facade wore away--& greed was all that was left. GOP voters are angry. But donors still greedy, so GOP will allow a fool to be POTUS while they plunder.

Was it his competence, compassion, fiscal conservatism or his incredibly nuanced understanding of virtually all policy details that set up Trump?
