He’s betting that Dems want their own Trump (an inexperienced bully). But will the “But he fights!” mantra resonate the way it did on the right? It’s not a crazy experiment to try...https://twitter.com/Bencjacobs/status/1028097198800728064 …

Hard to imagine center-left voters falling for something so non-substantive. He won't make it to the primaries.

I’m with Jim, I don’t think he’ll be the nominee but I also am not ruling out the crazy that Trevor points out. This is bizarro world where anything can happen.

I don’t hate Avenatti. He’s useful in his way. I don’t want him to run, and I will fight to elect a much better candidate. But if he ends up being the nominee...I will vote for him. I’m voting for dem nominee no matter who it is on the premise that no one is worse than Trump.

To me all of the hoopla is moot. It's not my business if the man wants to explore his options regarding a presidential run. I'm not going to go all purist about it. I learned from 2016.

One key difference with Trump is that Avenatti is entirely within the mainstream of his party on policy. Republicans could plausibly say Trump wasn't a true conservative. Dems can't really say Avenatti isn't a progressive/liberal etc etc etc

I think @DNC needs to wake up to the fact that *everyone* wants border security. This will be a major issue in November.

Yes, everyone wants border security. We've always had border security, even more so after 9-11. Obama deported a record number of illegals. The distinction is border security vs using tactical border brutality as a deterrent.

Yea I hear ya. Trouble is, we never hear Dems defending those points. They talk about abolishing ICE instead. Family separation is bad, but enforcing the law when millions are set on breaking it will never produce pleasant outcomes.

Laws need to be enforced, but 1st time illegal entry is only a misdemeanor. There's discretion as to HOW laws are enforced. If cops started arresting people for speeding instead of writing tickets, no one would speed. But is that a good idea? I don't know.
