If you are a conservative who grew up loving Reagan & Buckley’s policies, it’s time to admit that Donald Trump is more like the men who criticized them.https://www.thedailybeast.com/the-republican-party-is-now-the-blame-america-party …

Not only has Trump scrapped the legacy of Reagan. He has embraced dictators, and attacked freedom of expression. Conservatives have to decide between loyalty to him and the principles they one espoused.

"more like then men who criticized them"? How about, more like Kim Philby or Richard Nixon? Corrupt and traitorous to the bone.

What if President Trump had released 4 Taliban Commanders or sold Putin our Uranium, or lied about Benghazi and trained ISIS? That was all Obama.

I don't know anyone who trusts what our IC did under Obama....look what they've done. My gawd...when the truth finally comes out, when the MSM actually reports on the facts. Did you hear Lisa Page said the texts between her and Stzrok meant what they said not like he implied.

Have you considered that you may have been influenced by Russian propaganda? That perhaps, the “facts” and “truth” you think you know were part of a misinformation campaign?

Peace through strength. The USSR was a real threat back then.We practiced nuclear drills. Today, Russia is a small piss ant country that is struggling to survive. The last 4 presidents put NATO on their doorstep. We interfered in Ukraine. DT is again pushing peace through strength

No disrespect, but have you ever viewed Trump through a combined lens of malignant narcissism and a possible relationship of being "indebted" to Putin et al.? Suddenly, posing rational questions to find political similes with prior US leaders seems like intellectual gymnastics.

IMHO.. he has a very definitive worldview that he's adopted from his business experience. Nations = firms, rules = obstacles, exports = profits, imports = expenses, alliances = freeloaders, win/win deals = suckers bets, defense = a "hedge"

Times are not the same. The Cold War is over. Our economy is not the same. Our fiscal policy is not the same. Buckley was fine for the 1960s & 1970s, but he’d probably be one of the elitist, out of touch “Never Trump” types today who don’t get that times are different.

Um yeah...it’s over. I did “shelter drills” as a child because nuclear attack was a real possibility. Tanks could have moved across the plains in a divided Germany at any point. There were two very definite alliances & sides. Those days are gone.
