Question: why do critics of the whichever Republican is President, always look at past Republican Presidents so fondly (and whine about how much better they were) when, at the time, they did nothing but deride the past Republican when in office?

The disaster that is the Trump presidency does give Dems like me a new perspective on past Republican presidents. Nixon, Reagan and Bush 43 are more intelligent, understand the complexities of issues and take the advice of aides better than #45 -- by a long shot!

Each of the Presidents you mention were harshly criticized in office while their Republican predecessors were recalled with great affection, despite being harshly derided while in office. It’s a technique used by the Left and Democrat supporters. You need to see it.

You missed the point entirely. The Right doesn’t criticize the current Democrat President while lamenting how much more qualified the prior one was who they criticized while in office.
