Which do you think came first...the president’s ‘acceptance’ of Pruitt’s resignation or his actual resignation? I suspect the former. After being told he had resigned, I suspect Pruitt wrote his goodbye note.

Did the pressure to fire Pruitt ever stop? My guess is the straw that broke is that some midwestern GOP senators unhappy about ethanol who were about to become much more vocal about their annoyance with Pruitt.
