I think one year is far too early to judge a judicial appointee but on paper at least Gorsuch was clearly qualified. If Trump follows that precedent then I guess we'll just have to hope for the best

That's fair. We have no idea how Gorsuch (or anyone) will turn out, in the long run. But so far, so good.
-
As the Court becomes more conservative, though, I'm concerned about the civil liberties and especially the 4th Amendment.

How is that judging us? Trump has destroyed the GOP moral values. To me, that's what is important. I can't face my kids while he's destroying America, SCOTUS pick or no SCOTUS pick.

The reason some conservatives won’t support Trump is b/c of his character and conduct. Nothing about his SCOTUS picks (and he picked well w/Gorsuch) changes that. I don’t oppose everything Trump does. I certainly don’t hate him. But he’s still pretty much who I thought he was.

Hello Matt, What do you think of the argument that US Sen Minority Leader Schumer suggests that Sen. Majority Leader McConnell wait until after Nov's Mid-Term Elections to Nominate the successor to Justice Kennedy on Supreme Ct?
-
Doesn’t the next session of the SCOTUS begin in early October, a month before the mid-term elections? Shouldn’t the goal be to have a new justice confirmed by the end of September? That’s how our system works, right?
-
What about when US Sen/.Majority Leader McConnell wouldn't Nominate & bring up for a Vote fmr Pres Obama's Supreme Ct Nominee of M. Garland? Hypocracy?
-
It’s not hypocrisy. McConnell is exercising his prerogative, which is to determine what business the Senate acts on. A prerogative means, sometimes “this” and sometimes “not this.” Like whether you tweet, or don’t tweet. You’re not a hypocrite either way.

Whatever happened to "Civility" when it comes to people having conversations on Politics without resorting to Violence? That goes for good friends, family memebers in society today?
-
IMO, far too many people have substituted politics for the religion they lost as teenagers. Many exhibit the well-known zealotry of the convert. Some of them show the fanaticism of the true believer, eager to extinguish heresy.
-
Do you think the concept of "BI-PARTISANSHIP" in US Congress can take place again with both parties reaching across the aisle or are both sides so Partisan in their Policies-Views?
-
I’m afraid not. Bi-partisanship was possible because each party contained a spectrum of the Left-Right beliefs. Lib Republicans could join with moderate and conservative Dems. Today’s polarization is a result of each party’s distinct ideological uniformity.

Wow. You seriously think gay people shouldn't have rights? You have that big of an issue with abortion? Where do you live where that is the biggest challenge in people's lives? I know so many people with kids that are just trying to make it. Gorsuch is terrible.

Why? Glad for the good done, but my vote was against racism and disqualifying behavior I knew about.
-
Again: Gorsuch was and is one of my all time favorites (Love his book). Doesn’t change unfitness . So glad for good and sorry for the bad.

Some are so bitter they’ll never admit
@POTUS has given them everything they’ve ever hoped to get. It’s disgraceful and eye opening.@realDonaldTrump isn’t perfect but he’s working hard to keep every promise. Unlike other@GOP ever did. -
Your last sentence is the winner. Establishment GOP and never Trumpers talked, but didn’t do. Trump talks too much and poorly but takes his promises seriously. If Old GOP did that, Trump wouldn’t have happened.
