In other words, Clowns to the left of me, Jokers to the right, here I am, Stuck in the middle
-
No he's saying there's no middle anymore... we're all either clowns or jokers (except me of course!)
-
Well I won't speak for Matt, although I think I know where he stands, but I am neither a Socialist or a Nationalist
-
Me too... I guess he's saying the middle is shrinking. I'd agree with that.
-
While any socialists v. nationalists trend is still nascent, the middle's shrinking is not; it's been evident during the past ~15 yearshttps://twitter.com/aronro/status/1010526240879460352 …
-
The middle is for fence sitters who don't engage in their own public trust.

Or the ones with the most influence and swing elections

Wrong. So wrong. The takeaway is that we have the emergence of a cohort of smart, energetic, empathic younger candidates attuned to the needs and interests of THEIR CONSTITUENCIES, uninterested in shaping their message to please high-roller donors.

Umm, it was one win in one district by a candidate who fit that particular district well and ran a great campaign. Just stop.

Maybe we can go even further down the European road and actually have more than two parties.

Characterizing German and Italian Christian Democrats as "nationalists" seems weird. This typology seems reasonably accurate for France, possibly Britain, not Scandinavia or Netherlands or Spain
-
Britain?? the nationalists are also the socialists (SNP etc)... (Then again you did only say possibly.)
-
The whole thing falls apart when you include regional parties, not to mention the Greens, Liberals, etc
-
Fair point... but I'm still not sure I'd call the Tories the Nationalists and Labour the Socialists. Jeremy Corbyn aside - Although he was always a big advocate for our withdrawal from the EU. I also think you down play the role of the Liberal Democrats.
