I’ve tweeted about this over and over. I wish people like Schmidt and Painter would stay in the GOP. Make it better. Joining the Democratic Party is the worst possible outcome.

Wrong. They’re making a moral choice and standing against extremism.
-
Handing the keys to extremists and white nationalists creates an ideas vacuum on the right. My argument is: a) If all the Steve Schmidts leave, there won’t be a healthy alternative to the Democratic Party.
-
b) Progressives ought to hash out progressive ideas amongst themselves, without the help of orphaned conservatives.
-
If the GOP who align with Trump aren't punished in some way politically, there will never be a motivation for them to move away from the monster.
-
The Dems and Libturds were punished politically at the voting booths....we kept the Monster out of the White House.

A lot of these folks will likely return to the fold but not until there are people with character and true convictions at the helm. Profound, justified disappointment in Ryan and so many others driving this exodus as much as disgust with Trump.

Indeed, I do. Ryan and McConnell are burning daylight and good will every day. Main stream folks + the 'establishment' aren't interested in affiliating with whatever the 'base' has become. Trump's approval isn't worth their souls.

No one should expect conservatives to abandon their principles, but we can expect them to prioritize the reclamation of our country over policy right now. This means voting out all Republicans wherever possible. Policy comes 2nd to defending our democracy.
-
So vote for socialists? Nah
-
This is part of what led to Trump. There are few socialists in the mainstream Democratic party
-
Neither DWS or Hillary Clinton could distinguish the Dem platform from socialism in interviews in 2016. It’s not “a few”.
-
Nonsense.
-
Google it. DWS had NO answer.

Permanent realignment doesn’t appeal to me either. But we won’t have effective oversight of the executive or grown ups in charge of the GOP while Rs control Congress and Trumpers control the party. To save the party of Lincoln it’s become necessary to destroy the party of Trump.
-
We don't ask that you permanently realign, but for the next two cycles, you need to do what's right for the country, and that's vote for Dems, everywhere. In a 2 party system where 1 party has gone nuts, it's the only way.
