Hey, Matt, Have you read The Penguin and the Leviathan by Yochai Benkler? It suggests that monetizing the impulse to contribute to a coding community could actually stifle innovation (even if there is a firm, like STATA, setting up the structure for financial gain). Yr thoughts?
