    New M1 MBP wouldn't work with any external displays on one of its USB-C ports. I figured it was hardware failure until I tried deleting a windowserver plist file and that fixed it. Computers 🙃

    This is so cool. I honestly didn't realize how powerful iOS Shortcuts are. It even includes base64-encoded versions of the Splatoon fonts to make the images look nice 🤯

    Trump never even made use of the 2016 map that was on his desk during the prayer event he lied his way through. It was apparently just there for emotional support.

    Honestly, well done to the social networks who correctly predicted & prepared for him to claim victory prematurely. Twitter handled this better than FB, and it'd be better to ban him entirely, but limiting reach is a good, realistic step.

    I often think about how if stoplights were invented today, we'd have a whole coalition of anti-stoplighters running through red lights and killing people in the name of protecting their "freedom to drive." The hyperindividualism in this country is not sustainable.

    This answer about freedom sums up so many of my frustrations about modern political discourse. The goalposts get moved over and over and people lose track of what they're fighting for. Interview with Maynard James Keenan:

    Q: It does seem like we're just more polarized than ever now. People even turn whether or not to wear a mask into reasons to hate each other. A: Yeah, that's ridiculous. It's just an absurdity. We wear seatbelts. We don't smoke in trains, planes or taxis anymore, or even restaurants. There's reasons for those things. I don't know. I feel like there's this twist on the idea of personal freedom where somehow freedom is you being able to walk into anybody's house and take a dump on their meal or shout ugly things at their grandma. That's not what freedom is. Freedom is the ability to pursue your lifestyle, pursue what you want to do for your family, for your future, what education you want to get. And with that freedom comes a responsibility to look out for yourself, for your neighbor, for your family, for everybody. So there are some compromises that come along with freedom. I'm not sure why that's so difficult to grasp.
