Hoping for sake of my father in law, a fan of for 60 years, that the Bees have a fine night. A great club whose supporters understand Hornby's dictum that the life of a fan is to "curse, go home & then come back to suffer all over again"

Looking forward to seeing the incomparable at Cadogan Hall on Sunday. He also has a new book on creativity coming out next week, which should be a belter (even if he disagrees with my thesis in Bounce)

Putin & Xi are not bribing and manipulating to gain secret influence over western govts & officials. They actively want corruption stories to leak. They want doubt to spread. Why? Because their ultimate target is the trust that underpins the liberal order

Is it time to get rid of Footballer of the Year awards? The best teams are not about individual brilliance but collective harmony. Who is the best Liverpool player? It’s difficult to separate the contribution of any one player from that of every other

THINGS I LEARNED IN 2020 told me that working outside, in a garden or in a park doesn't feel like work. So long as it is outside. Works! Trying it for stuff that is *work* & requires colossal effort: s.a. reading emails from NJ, comments from referees, etc.

We are incredibly proud and very emotional to hear that our daughter Bethan achieved a high upper second class honours (2:1) in her Journalism degree. She missed a first by three marks. She was going to be such a good journalist. We miss you so much and will love you forever xxxx
