  5. Wow is being far too charitable here. The Oliver Wyman study, when redone properly, shows venture investment collapsing in the kill zones affected by Google/Facebook/Amazon. There's no need to sugar coat it. (ht and )

Very interesting suggestive new evidence that tech platforms suppress innovation in immediately proximate industries & product lines.

  15. This strikes me as unlikely. The amount of dumping, fraud, and cheating that comes from Chinese producers (and often happens via trans-shipment via third party countries) is quite high.

How has Facebook not built a web search competitor? They could build it right into Facebook. Oh, I see.... they both were and then they miraculously stopped. Huh.

  17. As I noted, the central problem with Amazon is Bezos's monopoly power. When you don't aim at that, you misfire.

  18. Amazon confirmed to that thousands of Amazon delivery drivers won't get the $15/hour wage hike because they technically work for Amazon subcontractors. This is why you have to target Bezos's power, not misfire by trusting a benevolent monopolist.

"Your 15 most recent Facebook searches" is one of the most sensitive pieces of data that users would want to keep private. On this Facebook list, it's mentioned second to last

This is a big deal, Amazon got tons of PR from its $15 wage announcement. Thousands of workers doing tasks for Amazon will be left out, working instead for fly-by-night 3rd parties who steal wages. Subcontracting makes the wage announcement irrelevant

“The 15 most recent searches you’ve entered into the Facebook search bar” is enough to scare most people stalking their past ghosts. FTC and FBI, if you’re listening, I hope you’re able to find Sheryl, Mark and members of Congress’ search history...before a bad actor does.
