The worst common sense advice young people get is "don't run away from your problems." Too easily translates to "don't change course."

Was going to say "run towards them" instead. Yours has a little more oomph. It fits with a notion of "fail fast" that many programmers subscribe to: When testing an idea to see if it will work, start by testing the part that's most likely to fail. You waste less time that way.
