Women seem to enjoy hanging around other women who are not exceedingly more attractive than they are. Let's say they like to keep within 1 standard deviation of attraction. Within that range, they'll associate themselves as much as possible with other women.

They'll feign sexual attraction to other women and do sexual acts as if they were attracted to them. I think this is a mating mechanism to attract more men.

Two beautiful women standing next to each other are probably seen as more attractive than if standing on their own. And they might be able to attract larger groups of men by "tricking" the men into thinking they can have sex with all of them.

This holds true for men if you use the typical standards by which men are evaluated. Most likely, people just like to sort themselves.
