It is true that he was pissed off. But righteously so! At many times in human history, a man so accused would be entitled to challenge his accuser to a duel. So, such accusations were rarer—you only said it if you were willing to kill for, or die for, your belief.

Kavanaugh probably drank too much. Maybe some day someone will make an accusation and name witnesses who don’t, to one extent or another, refute the accusation.

When Kavanaugh spoke before Congress, he made an enormous concession to civility: when he gave them both barrels, it was a metaphor.
