Maybe it’s too risky. To skewer PC culture and modern sexual norms, you probably need to be young enough to experience them firsthand—but that means you’re risking your entire career.
Is there a modern equivalent to David Lodge books, or Lucky Jim? Academia gets funnier as it takes itself more seriously, but nobody’s taking advantage.

That would explain why the closest example I can think of, I Am Charlotte Simmons, was a novel about undergrads written by a septuagenarian.
