Originalism is fun, especially if you’re really verbal. But it constrains your ability to advocate for interesting policies. You’re limited to what was within the Overton Window at a specific time when particular legislators/jurists were in power.
As a fan of Michael Anton’s writing and an opponent of birthright citizenship, I’m truly bummed to find that his interpretation of the 14th amendment is even more of a Hail Mary than it appeared.
