Not to ruin the joke, but by "incel" Pao doesn't mean someone who is not sexually active, but rather someone who shares beliefs with online incel communities.

the preexisting word that already describes that clearly is "misogynist". that is the exact thing they're doing wrong so it's interesting she's talking about this one very tiny specific group of misogynists where their label applies literally to a lot of other people, isn't it

I don't know, people like using the trendy new term from the news. Soon it will be something else. But the point is that Pao's meaning is the dominant one -- I don't see any sign of animus against awkward but non-misogynist guys who don't date much. (Ask me how I know!)

First they came for the actually insane virgins, and I said nothing because I was merely a depressed virgin. Then they came for the depressed virgins, and I said nothing, for I had gotten a better job and found an okay girlfriend, although I was still awkward.

Then they came for the awkward dudes, and I said nothing, for I had gotten a good job, gotten married, and started lifting weights. Then they came for the masculine-presenting normie-presenting dada, and there was no one to speak for me.
