Honestly, I don’t know many immigration proponents who think immigrants won’t change a country. It would take some pretty hardcore assimilationist policies to prevent that.

If the city where I live had a huge influx of, say, Mormons, such that one person in sixteen was a Mormon, I would notice that and feel like things had changed, even if there’s no issue with Mormons per se.
