I hated my paper route. I can still remember sitting in the snow on the corner folding papers at 630 am on a Saturday at age 13. Looking back it taught me a great deal.https://twitter.com/LAppiah/status/1337915922175172608 …

I loved delivering the Washington Post with my sister in the summers with our two red wagons.

Love that.

Same here! I delivered a local newspaper as a kid. After school route. Saved for a commodore 64 and a Nintendo that I purchased at children's palace in 88 and 90.

I delivered the Danbury News-Times for five years from 11-16 as a kid. I rode my bike (or walked) in the heat, snow & rain seven days a week. I am forever thankful for the opportunity to make & manage money. I cannot even count the number of comics I purchased with my earnings.

I grew up in the 50's and 60's...my folks wouldn't let me have a paper route being a girl. So I made my own paper (one page mimeographed) and distributed it in my hood. Didn't make any money - but everybody wanted to be mentioned in my weekly report! LOL

I love that so many younger people will now Google 'mimeographed'

I had a Detroit News route too and also sub'd for my friend on his Free Press Route, That goes way back but enjoyed that cash. Bought my Beatles albums with it.

Me too. 52 papers/day, 6 days/week, and I had to be done by 6am. Last paper went to my dad. On my bike, year-round, in WI. The only time I’d get a car was when it was 0F of colder. Almost 4 miles in total. Loved the time of solitude and hearing the beating of my heart.
