Because college tuition starts off at least $5K a semester, $2K a semester for a meal plan, $2K for a dorm room, and another $1K for books. No other way to pay for school but with loans but wages have remained stagnant. College needs to become less expensive ASAP. 
I paid for my college by working and i took out student loans which i paid back in less than ten years by scrimping on other things. Why is it fair that we just cancel all student loan debt? Don’t they owe at least something for taking out loans?

I like you, but this is an incredibly out of touch tweet. Young people are enslaved by their debt. Most will die with that debt. What your experience was 20-30 years ago is incredibly irrelevant. This shows a complete lack of awareness of young people suffering.

That actually brings up a really good point: with the way things are, we're all going to die before we pay off our debts. What happens to the economy when our generation starts kicking it? Surely the debt won't pass on to other family members, will it?

My education cost me a total of $5000 and I have a Masters Degree. Of course that was in the 7O’s . Today’s graduates will be saddled with loans till they die. They are unable to buy houses, get married, and raise a family. You probably did not have to pay off $100,000
