It's also not the right thing on the merits. The vaccine would need to be pretty darn dangerous for it to be negative expected value for the people who receive it. That it's also likely to worsen vaccine hesitancy only exacerbates what a poor decision it is.

Let's also remember that public health overlaps with but is not synonymous with medicine. If a physician treats someone, she is also duty-bound to manage their complications (i.e., "surgeons take care of the wounds they make"). The doctor-patient relationship is distinct.
