Yeah, this is definitely true for me too. It's a nice idea, but "open office" studios and casual workplace environments means the noise is constant and distracting. I have to drown out everything else so I can actually concentrate.

not to derail but I don't think the cost/benefit analysis of open concept offices has been sufficiently examined. It's more of a space saving tactic than an "encourage collaboration" tactic.

we're going to open concept next year and I actually want to die. I have huge focus issues and listen to music/podcasts all day, but being in eyeline of people now will make me die
