As an animator I prefer rigs that have an easy "remove translation" feature. Its much easier to polish a cycle in place. No tricks needed.

@mattheweboehm add a layer in Maya to subtract the forward translates. Then you can toggle it on and off :)
@hector_animates Def. a smart solution. I'd prefer this over simply removing translate all together.
