I have writer and artist friends who have small critique groups (using G+ or Skype.) Would this be a viable way to practice animation?

@mattheweboehm Sure! While I was at AM we had small study groups to do crit over G+. Way better than typing it all out.
@1baronjennyson Cool! I think a small group would be fun. Need to set it up. We can share whatever. I want to start doing quick excercises.
