Spent all night debugging a model’s normals because I don’t know a damn thing about materials. Nasty seams in tangent space in Maya 2020. Futzed around too long just to find changing the color space from sRGB to Raw fixed it. I’m an animator, I don’t know what I just wrote either

Gamma correction can do this to normal maps in 3ds Max too, which is very fun

Very fun. I think the rig I’m using was made in 2014 and something changed in 2020 that causes this. I never even new the difference between object and tangent space normals before tonight.
