After another try at comparing the Maya Time Editor to MotionBulider Story or using Blender NLA, the Time editor is a bit more feature rich than Blender NLA but neither touch Motionbuilder, Blender is faster and easier out of the box, Maya is in last place in all respects, sigh.

It is, it creates a constant distrust for what has control over my character, the foundation is good but the User experience has a long way to go.
I couldn't agree more. I spent the last two weeks playing with the TE. There were some thing I liked about it but it was frustrating at times. (Like how many accidental source anims I had created in the Outliner.)
