Oh mans there tons. If you’re renting itll come down to cost. Somerville (Davis Sq has a T stop. Ball and Union Sqs are nice but further from the T.) JP is cool. We lived in Eastie near Maverick (it was overlooked, affordable, close to downtown.) avoid Allston unless youre 20

Brookline ain’t bad either. Coolidge Corner or Brookline Village. But yeah if it’s just for a visit then Back Bay is great for walking. Walk by the Charles or Comm Ave or Newbury St. the North End and Beacon Hill are fun to walk around too.

If they're looking for a place to live & rely on public transit, avoid places on the Green Line if possible. The train is always crowded & takes 400 billion years to get anywhere. (The D line is an okay exception, sometimes the C is fine. Avoid the B line AT ALL COSTS.)
