Overheard someone pronounce "tortilla" with an L sound. is that common in other parts of the country? I've never heard this before in SF or LA.
ha! my family would pick on my poor Pennsylvania born grandmother for saying quesadilla with the L sound. If my family is together we'll still over emphasize that 'L' when ordering even though my grandmother passed in 2009.

I'm from Pennsylvania originally and I've never heard either word pronounced with the L sound. Maybe just your grandmother. No getting away from the "wooder" though.
