    It’s also important to put the JavaScript bundle size in perspective. While it definitely can have a detrimental effect on performance, especially when it grows uncontrollably, a single image is often bigger than a JavaScript bundle

    I'm excited by the recent trend of C replacement languages like Zig, Odin, and V. For a long time it felt like you had to choose between modern features and speed. These new languages are providing that's not the case.

    Isn't it crazy how if you ate your favorite food, whatever it is (mine is pumpkin pie), as your only form of sustenance your body would start rejecting it after like 4 or 5 days? Cruel world.

    Is there a more average foodstuff than arugula? It's not bad, it's not good. It's fine. Sort of bitter. Not good by itself. Dressing doesn't help. Can be a filler on a sandwich, but again doesn't do that particularly well. Meh. This tweet is more than arugula deserves.

    Unpopular opinion: React is the wrong tool for building content websites (blogs, marketing sites, documentation, etc.) today. SSR is not good enough. You end up downloading the content twice: once in the HTML, and again in the JS for hydration. How did this become so common? 😱

    The problem with web components is that browser vendors, and specifically Apple, are almost entirely concentrated on the hard-encapsulation use cases and no matter how many soft-encapsulations use cases developers have it doesn't change that. Thus frustration.

    Is it really hard to break something into parts and do one thing at one time and not do everything all at once? It's not like most things need to be updated / maintained constantly. Registering a certificate is a one time thing.

    I genuinely don't get it when senior level engineers say that they don't use AWS because the UI is too hard. You know what DNS is, right? There's a page for that. You know what static files are, there's a page for that. You know what CDNs are, etc.

    If I were Node.js I would see Yarn 2 and related ideas as existential threats. A clear indicator that there's a *big* problem that needs to be fixed in core. They are saying that `node` is not a command you should be using. Crazy! Deno has no such concern.

    All of the Node.js package managers want to become runtimes because the Node module resolution algorithm is complicated / insufficient. Deno is a clean slate and doesn't have any of that baggage. And will never, as it's based on URL resolution. No better time to move over, imo.
