What can we learn from history’s most impactful organisations, from the Enlightenment to the Apollo Mission? Excited to host a reading group on “Organising Genius”. Reading list here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1niTWlibLw8n_bqb9tZWcl16DWN04TQNgmPETtEMRcGU/mobilebasic …

It is striking the extent to which these lists all include more or less the same examples. So EITHER we are missing many other relevant examples and some important lessons OR these examples ARE the only ones and such performance is extremely rare and probably not replicable.

True! Some groups invite better documentation than others, and some become irrelevant because what they were effective at is not valued (or harmful!), or because their contexts feel too foreign to present day, which explains somewhat the recurring examples.

Looks really cool. One suggestion I would add is to actively invite participants to co-create the course, especially in the digital space. Propose clear course hashtags and ask for example case studies / resources. Have people share their long form views via blogs etc.

This is awesome! Been reading about this for a while - particularly the labs like Xerox PARC and Bell Labs. Thanks for organising

Matt, try using http://onp4.com  to collect all the reading/media resources. You could create a stream ~Organising Genius and make it open for others to contribute their ideas and follow-ups. It’s definitely better than g-docs and would benefit more people.

Just reviewed the gdoc and pinged gform. Liking this! Feels similar in spirit to @waitbutwhy guy's idea of #idealabs, which I've been wanting to start in #singapore.
