The thing about norms is they're not fixed. They change based on precedent, and Trump is changing the nature of the relationship between the White House and DOJ. It's up to Congress to push back and re-establish the norm - if not through impeachment, then perhaps censure.

And I absolutely get his obsession with being 'by-the-book' and not doing things his own way (like Comey), but if Barr is lying to us (and I absolutely believe he is) and came in and demanded Mueller shut the whole thing down, would he really not say anything??

The attorney general should work for the country not for the president. He should hold the president to the same laws that apply for everyone.

That's why their should be an amendment to the US Constitution separating the DOJ from the rule of the White House. November 2020 is coming.

Or pass laws giving the DOJ complete independence from the White House. The history of corruption btw those two agencies right now is unprecendented. Barr and now his son in law in the WH advising Obstructionist Trump.
