    This past year has been extraordinary and a significant fall in recorded crime is perhaps to be expected. But a 9% fall in recorded knife crime nationally is welcome.

    Falls in police recorded crime during October to December 2020 compared with October to December 2019
    Total police recorded crime decreased by 8% to approximately 5.6 million offences. This is driven by falls during the periods of national lockdown, particularly April to June 2020 and mainly theft offences
