Without the NCAA, talking football now, who provides the vehicle and development for them to get to the NFL? A very small percentage will ever be ready to go straight to NFL. A few weeks of a draft prep program can cost $10k what does 3 or 4 years of prep cost?

Assuming college athletics (football) ‘went away’ - then minor leagues would pop up. Just like in baseball. And hockey. And is currently building in basketball.

I would argue, that athletic departments provide extraordinary benefits to college athletes. Different standards for enrollment on SAT, private tutorin outside normal channels, class created for athletes only. If they want this, then they should be treated like all students then
