The US has no interest in sending a message that “terrorism doesn’t work” since it participates in terrorism on the regular and it works just fine for the US.
Responding to the Fakrizadeh assassination by reaffirming the commitment to rejoin the JCPOA would be a good way to send the message that terrorism doesn't work.

Do you think the JCPOA is even feasible, at this point? All the domestic political capital Rouhani spent negotiating it was lit on fire, when Trump proved the Iranian hardliners right about doing so. Would Iran even rejoin? Especially if there's no chance of Senate ratification.

Yeah, I think we're all wondering the same thing. A naive observer would think that, given the US's bullshit bad faith, it should be the _US_ making new, additional concessions.

Biden team will say JCPOA a lot but it won't be the 2015 agreement endorsed by UN. They want a *new* JCPOA with the same extra non-nuclear conditions Trump wanted - for Iran to dismantle defenses, make itself available for periodic punishment, a la Israeli "grass mowing" in Gaza
