For real, little bit of a bar exam vent thread: A lot of people say it's fine if you don't pass, don't worry, it's a minimum competency exam, etc. But it doesn't feel that way– some days it feels like you're running a really long race, but you're not actually getting anywhere.

There will always be another multiple choice that I don't know the answer to, another essay on a topic that I'm not confident on, etc. I've been so lucky to have someone run flash cards w/ me for 2-3 hours at a time, hold me when I cry because I didn't do well on a quiz, etc.

I think that the thing I've found most comforting is that there's a communal feeling of fear. I can only speak for those of us who have just graduated law school, but we've been working at this for so long and all we want is the gratification that we're good enough to do this.

Maybe it all seems so big and scary now, but only because it's ALL we've been thinking about. Bar prep alone is a difficult, emotionally challenging process because it makes you constantly face the fact that there's so much more to learn... and you need to know it for this test.

I'm sorry if this mini-thread is corny/silly/dramatic to some, but I feel like someone else needs to hear that it's okay to be stressed, scared, and sometimes even feel worthless during this process (regardless of the fact that it's not true).

TLDR: Whether or not you pass the bar exam is not a measure of your self-worth. If Michelle Obama can get away with failing on her first shot at the bar exam, you can too.

Replying to @Chinnery
This is late stage bar prep - I promise y’all got it! The content gets exponentially harder towards the end - I remember taking a simulated MBE around this time and getting a spectacular 40% and deciding that it meant certain doom. I promise y’all are doing the right things.

And you’re absolutely right - the number one thing you wish you could be told right now is that everything is gonna go a certain way and that’s impossible. But the process you’re putting yourself through is time tested and the absolute best thing you can be doing to prepare.
