Good reporting here from Jake. Democrats haven’t moved an inch from Pelosi’s HEROES Act.. ... which was a nonstarter for a dozen moderate *House Democrats* who attacked it as a political exercise with no chance of becoming law. All relief is being held up for this.https://twitter.com/JakeSherman/status/1290628868789940225 …

-- DEMOCRATS are the only ones who have passed a bill, and they haven’t really moved an inch from there. In truth, they seem to be waiting for Republicans to fold.

Republicans are pushing for funding to safely reopen schools, direct checks for families, PPP loans, and money for testing. Democrats say none of that can happen without paychecks for illegal immigrants, tax cuts for wealthy NYers, and environmental justice grants.

Moderate Democrats actually ran ads touting votes *against* Pelosi’s bill. They didn’t think the pandemic was the moment to demand “diversity reports" for cannabis businesses. But that bill is the Democrat’s red line now if you’re wondering if they actually want a deal.

Pelosi says they won't move without another massive infusion for state and local govs -- Pelosi said "there will be money, Republicans just don't know it yet." (per @heatherscope) But state and locals have spent less than 25% of what was passed in Aprilhttps://www.cnn.com/2020/07/29/politics/treasury-report-state-local-funds/index.html …

Republicans want to incentivize businesses, child care providers, and schools to safely reopen according to COVID guidance. Democrats want to use the pandemic to take elections from states, get rid of voter ID requirements, and enable ballot harvesting. https://www.rpc.senate.gov/policy-papers/democrats-3-trillion-parade-of-absurdities …pic.twitter.com/teadJCzU6a

This is a key detail -- in the same negotiations where Schumer and Pelosi were rejecting proposals to continue enhanced unemployment benefits for millions of Americans, Schumer was fighting hard for a tax cut for the wealthy in New York and San Francisco.https://twitter.com/JStein_WaPo/status/1289180694501974018?s=20 …

Pelosi's Coronavirus relief bill includes requirements for studies on diversity and inclusion in the cannabis industry. She even DEFENDED it in a press conference. Pelosi's ransom demands on COVID relief also include particularly egregious changes to election systems. First, legalizing nationwide ballot harvesting. https://wsj.com/articles/a-vote-by-mail-nightmare-11590189749 …… Second, ending voter ID laws in ALL states.https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/factcheck/2020/05/23/fact-check-houses-heroes-act-changes-state-voter-id-requirements/5203381002/ …
