    Yesterday's memorial service for Paul Farmer was the most moving ceremony that I have every seen. There were tears, laughs, great stories, hugs, and a call to keep doing bold work that matters. Thanks to the Farmer family and for sharing this moment with us.

    Thanks to for writing such a lovely and biting piece. This really hit the spot and I'll be sharing it with my students today.

    So, part of grieving about someone is trying to make sense of who they were, what they left behind. It's nominally about COVID and Biden. This is really about what Paul Farmer taught me, us about structural violence and epidemics. Hamba kahle comrade. 1/

    I'm so proud of the students who I teach. This year is hard. It's hard in a way that nobody can understand unless they're in schools. Despite this, I see students who are showing up, staying engaged, discussing complex issues, & lifting each other up each day.

    I'm getting emails and texts from former students who are grieving about Paul Farmer. These folks range in age from 18 to 35. The thing that is utterly staggering is how many of them pursued professions & college majors as a direct result of reading Paul's work and meeting him.
