Regretfully and respectfully, I decline. It's a better use of technologists time to work on replacing antiquated and corrupt (oh, and closed source) voting systems designed for nation-states modelled on the 19th century with governance built for the 21st century.https://twitter.com/mattblaze/status/1019635796557680641 …

While I respect pollworkers, it's obvious that voting on arbitrary geographic lines does not equate to meaningful politics in a democracy. It's equally obvious that likely Trump won the election due to low enthusiasm for Hilary rather than voting fraud. That's voting for you!
-
Blah, blah, blah.
-
As the actual empirical data around 'election hacking' seems to be rather limited at best, blaming Russia rather than accepting that our existing voting system actually produced a suboptimal crazy result (i.e. 'Trump as President') is basically a liberal version of Birtherism.
-
Let me guess? You've never actually read any of the literature on election securty, and you're working on blockchain, right?
-
Note that I took Ron Rivest's crypto lectures on voting security, and agree that e-voting is hard, if not impossible. If really needed, mix-nets over blockchains. My point is VOTING is not a magic bullet for making democratic decisions. Exhibit A: Trump as President.
-
Far be it for me to argue with someone who took a course on the subject.
-
Or is working with mix-net designs for e-voting in
@PanoramixH2020 for Europe. However, you are missing my point: Voting based on arbitrary (often gerrymandered) geographic lines is not a technological problem. For many kinds of decisions voting is a BADLY DESIGNED social system. -
As both a geographer and technologist I'm struggling to understand how the existence of gerrymandered areal units should stop people from working on the ground in elections and instead bunker down in their ivory tower...
