With the 30th Anniversary of the coming up, the is prime time to talk about the status of people with disabilities. After all, we are represented in 1/3 of households. But what I expect, is a lot of bragging about things that actually HURT disabled people.

Going out of your way to tell me "a fundamental political right" considered to be a "preservative of all rights" (i.e. voting) is, and ought be, denied to a "discrete and insular minority" (i.e. disabled citizens) bc movie theaters violate the ADA? Well, it's a choice...

Last night left a lot of things unclear—but one thing that that's clearer than ever is that Elizabeth Warren should be the next president of the United States.

Ady is absolutely right, we should seize this moment to do both: to abolish caucuses (they're fundamentally broken) and pick new early states that more accurately reflect the diversity of our party and of America

Here's my reality-based critique of the : the process disenfranchises citizens who have every right to vote. Some of those disenfranchised? Disabled voters (in violation, I'd argue of federal disability civil rights statutes), 1/

WARREN DEMS: my biggest takeaway from the last 24 hours? knocking doors, making phone calls, and talking to your neighbors to turn out even ONE extra vote is VITAL. volunteering works. New Hampshire is 7 days away. let’s dream even bigger and fight even harder, y’all.

  12. (I don't know if a caucus would be accessible to Ady, but it sure as hell wouldn't be accessible to me, so please, miss me with the "we do reasonable accommodations now" line.)

  13. And putting Iowa first (and, for that matter, New Hampshire second) is also terrible:

  17. The Supreme Court, in Yick Wo v. Hopkins, an 1886 case, held voting to be a "a fundamental political right" As for the disability community being a discrete & insular minority? A) the exclusionary caucus still existing is sufficient evidence & b) I agree with Michael Waterstone

But commemorative coins aside, is absolutely right – Iowa doesn’t represent the diversity of the Democratic Party, the diversity of America

  21. This is what an Iowan thinks of voting rights for disabled Americans. It's like going to a concert, or a movie. I'm so sick of these people I could vomit.
