I flagged down a police SUV:
Me: “Red sedan just smash and grabbed two cars”
Officer: “Camry?”
Me: “Yeah, good luck though, @chesaboudin won’t do anything about it…”
Officer: *Chuckles* *Shakes head* *Sighs* *Drives away*

I’ve been here my whole 20s. I love it here. I got my first real job here, met my partner here, made my best friends here, invested in the community here. And it’s impossible, now, not to want to leave in despair. Crime isn’t “down” — my eyes don’t lie to me.

After some weekend thought: I’m not leaving. I’m staying and will be part of the solution. Here’s 3 signatures from 20-somethings who care 0% for politics. Thanks for the work

Sir, respectfully: I am not a sworn officer of the SFPD. But feel free to email or call my office if the police for some reason have not responded to this crime. My personal experience with Central Station is that they’re incredibly responsive.

Sir, respectfully: don’t bother calling the police. As you said, and as their reaction suggests, there is zero percent chance that I’d actually prosecute this case or even consider it a crime. Save us all the paperwork. Thanks.

Yet another time that the SFPD failed to prevent or solve a crime.
