Surface area yesterday with year 8. Made this a few years ago for those students who struggled with too many processes at once - an example of backwards fading ?

After a 15-month break, I have written a new blog post! It is the start of an analysis of why England's education revolution is faltering.

Excellent stuff! Really enjoy your work and very much enjoy algebra tiles. Another option I've come across recently with tiles would be to multiply everything by negative 1, so you flip all tiles. Might be a good method to compare with pupils

I would like to acknowledge to the world my able-bodied and tall privilege. I realise that some of my success will have been thanks to the various privileges I have. Even if this is true, are we all meant to go round announcing it, signalling to the world how good we are?! 🤪

Leaders - if you don’t take care of yourself, you can’t take care of your staff. You have to put your oxygen mask on before you give it to others. I didn’t have a great day today but I won’t let it ruin tomorrow. Straight back on the wagon and stay positive. 1/2

If you get something wrong, hold your hands up, apologise and move on. I like the phrase, “things happen for us, not to us.” We are lucky to have this job and I’m grateful for the position I’m in. It’s a lot of responsibility for some one of my age and I’m proud of that. 2/2

I really like this scaffolded approach to ensure high quality modelling and also to build confidence. I will be trying this!
