How could browser support widen at this point? Internet Explorer is no longer getting updated, and all other browsers have supported the modern syntax for a long time.

Doesn't get wider than that indeed! I thought support was smaller due to failing to find compatibility information about it (which typically happens with fresh features implemented recently in 1-2 engines).
