Just out of curiosity: which character encoding uses JavaScript for strings?

I'd argue the 100% correct answer (per spec) is not in your list of options :P But I've already written a blog post on that. (no link because I don't wanna spoil the fun poll) See https://v8.dev/blog/scanner for what implementations use.
