It’s another example of an optimization I wouldn’t expect anyone to apply by hand. It’s one of those rare cases though where it makes sense for JS build tools to apply a transform (because this is not some implementation-specific detail, but rather applies everywhere).
While this is certainly true, it's a hedge that comes up pretty much EVERY time someone asks a performance related question.
I mean yes, absolutely we should be teaching the best practices of worrying about readability first and performance when it matters, but sometimes a curious mind just wants to know about the performance.
Going to be honest they have their limitations. I have some code which scans recursively 20-depth objects which huge arrays. Switching to faster for loop mechanism increased speed by about 20ms median across program. Small but it can add up
