That's not a line comment and works as expected just in a few cases (not 99%!). Tab Atkins Jr explained it as a trick "to kill the next construct" (https://www.xanthir.com/b4U10 ). I can add that it also kills surround construct when used inside a selector, a value or an at-rule preludepic.twitter.com/pbUkDSiERr
