Why look at other languages if there's such strong precedent within JavaScript environments already (with Node.js)? https://github.com/tc39/proposal-global … has existed since 2015 and AFAIK no one tried to push back against the name `global`.

You still comment the details, not substance of the argument. It's about making sure (or making others feel sure) there aren't cognitive biases influencing a standards body. Sure, I can use import * as G with default export in my projects for this case. What about the next one?
