And I always thought globalThis was simple. Thanks @mathias for explaining it in detail, esp. also why "globalThis" as a name makes sense.

We didn’t just “pick a name”. See https://github.com/tc39/proposal-global/blob/master/NAMING.md … for background. We all would’ve loved to just call it `global` but unfortunately it wasn’t web-compatible.

you did. I've been through the (now closed) issues before, seen the discussion. there was a questionable "procedure" of hiding instead of openly searching for better alternative for a while and the poor choice and selection behavior got known only "too late, it's shipping"(tm)

who's talking about "global" anyway? that's also "pick name first, rationalize later" attitude. would've it hurt to look at other languages for inspiration? was "cosmic" also taken? alas, to have inspiration, you'd first have to be open to suggestions
